England: Blackpool Pleasure Beach Reveals Name for New Double Launch Coaster

The new double launch coaster which has been announced by Blackpool Pleasure Beach in autumn 2016 under the project name “Construction 2018” (c.f. EAP news from October 11^th, 2016) will be named “Icon”. The new attraction will be Great Britain’s first double launch coaster, offering a thrilling ride experience with a maximal speed of approx. 128 km/h (we reported on this in EAP, 2/17).

“ ‘Icon’ is going to be one of the most talked about, iconic rollercoasters of the future. The name speaks for itself as it will be one of the most iconic rides on the planet,” said Amanda Thompson, Blackpool Pleasure Beach Managing Director. The coaster, which is being built by Mack Rides, is scheduled to open in spring 2018. (eap)
