Germany: NEMO Opens New “ElbauenSauna“

Last year, Germany’s NEMO Bade-, Sauna- & Fitnesswelt Magdeburg was taken over by GMF operator group, now running the bathing complex under its corresponding vivamar brand (c.f. EAP news from May 30th, 2016). GMF announced several refurbishment and modernization measures to be carried out at the outdated facility.

Recently, NEMO’s sauna area re-opened after seven weeks of intensive construction works, now shining in a new “Middle Elbe” (German biosphere reserve) design. Besides a new sauna and massage reception area guests can find new, large changing rooms providing direct access to the sauna. Further highlights include the panorama sauna with direct view of the Middle Elbe region, a bio sauna, a centrally located ice well, the “AuenStille” relaxing room and further reclining surfaces. The new “ElbauenRestaurant” regional-themed restaurant offers a diverse cuisine. The new sauna area was developed by Michelmann Architekten based in Hannover.

Harald Gabriel, CEO of vivamar, is satisfied with the enhanced offer: “The new ‘ElbauenSauna’ sets a new standard in terms of sauna experiences, not only in the city of Magdeburg but in the whole region. We will continue developing our offer as one of the leading leisure bathing complexes in the region, with the aim to become still more attractive for those guests seeking health and wellness,” Gabriel said.
