Germany: New Season & Major Plans at Europa-Park

Die geschäftsführenden Gesellschafter – Michael, Thomas, Jürgen und Roland Mack (v.l.) – nehmen die neue Bootsfahrt in Betrieb.

With a Pre-Opening Weekend, Europa-Park offered its guests the opportunity to get a taste of the park again one week before the official start of the summer season.

In the course of the early start into the season, various novelties for the park were announced for this year in a press conference. The owner family Mack was able to inaugurate the newly designed jungle raft ride now as "Josefinas Magical Imperial Journey", which expands the Austrian themed area. On a leisurely ride across the lake and through the palace gardens, guests pass various stations from Empress Josefina's life. The overhaul of the entire boat ride and station area is to be completed in phases by 2023.

The new "Vienna Water Waltz" fountain show on the 10,500-square-meter lake also aligns with the Austrian theme area. The water games of the 54 fountains, which reach a height of up to 40 meters, are accompanied by various waltz melodies. Aquatique Show is responsible for the 4.5-minute show, which is illuminated by LEDs.

With "Amber Blake - The Chase," Alpenexpress Coastiality offers a new, action-packed VR experience – as a foretaste, so to speak, of the new YULLBE PRO Experience "Amber Blake: Operation Dragonfly," which is scheduled to be available this summer. The virtual jet ski ride on the Alpenexpress, created by Mack Animation, already offers an interesting glimpse into the comic IP with 1:40 minutes of ride time.

Moreover, the secret about the new themed area that is being built until 2023 next to the Greece area has also been revealed. As Roland Mack already hinted, the park's offer will be expanded by a new Croatian themed area in the future. This will feature a new roller coaster from Mack Rides. The coaster is supposed to be a further developed version of the "BigDipper", which will accelerate to approx. 80km/h via launch and pass through various elements. The track will stretch between warehouses and administration complexes within the existing park area. With "Lost Gravity" in the Dutch amusement park Walibi Holland and "Dynamite" in Freizeitpark Plohn, two installations of the coaster model already exist.

With three new parade carriages as well as new costumes and choreographies, the popular parade at Europa-Park received an update and will start this season as "Ed's Adventure Parade", which can now again be experiencedt by guests every day. (eap)
