Germany: Saunahuus Ganderkesee Certified as Premium Sauna Facility

Thanks to a new outdoor pool Germany’s sauna facility Saunahuus Ganderkesee, which was opened in 2012 (cf. EAP, issue 3/2012), does not only have a further attraction but was also awarded the certificate “Fünf-Sterne-Premium-Sauna” (Eng.: “Five-Star Premium Sauna”). The German Sauna Association awards this distinction to premium sauna facilities which have to meet different criteria such as offering its visitors at least five sauna cabins, diverse bathing facilities as well as several wellness and adventure possibilities. According to Dieter Gronbach, member of the German Sauna Association’s executive committee, there are currently around 2,300 sauna facilities in Germany. 119 of them are certified, including 85 premium saunas.

Saunahuus’ new 300,000 Euros outdoor pool, manufactured by RivieraPool, features an area of 40 square meters and a water depth of 1.30 meters. The pool is adapted to the needs of the disabled, offering integrated stairs, massage nozzles at different levels and underwater lightning. A biogas plant heats the water to a temperature of 26 degrees. Saunahuus is operated by Germany’s Aquapark Management GmbH. (eap)
