Germany: Saxon Leisure and Family Parks Join Forces

To be prepared for future challenges, five leisure and family parks located in Saxony now joined forces and on April 4th, 2017, founded the Saxon Leisure and Family Parks (G.: Die sächsischen Freizeit- und Familienparks) interest group. Its members are Der Saurierpark, Freizeitpark Plohn, Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau, Kulturinsel Einsiedel and the BELANTIS leisure park, where CEO Erwin Linnenbach assumes the responsibility as speaker of the new association. “This interest group founded by five leisure destinations shows that the federal state of Saxony with its great amusement offerings is an important destination of the leisure industry,” said Linnenbach.

In 2016, all five parks together welcomed more than two million visitors, not only from Saxony but also guests from Lower-Saxony, Thuringia, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bavaria, Poland and the Czech Republic. One common goal of the new association is to focus more on the economic impact of day-tripper tourism. “The perception of this economic field is still small as the evaluation of touristic offers is mainly based on overnight stay figures. But especially companies such as ours largely contribute to attract tourists to Saxony. At times we are missing the appreciation for this fact,” explained Linnenbach.

Furthermore, the interest group plans to run corporate marketing activities in the future as well as to face political and legal challenges together and to profit from synergies in the field of employees’ qualification measures. (eap)
