Germany: Waterpark Alpamare Permanently Closed As of Today

Some time ago, Germany’s waterpark Alpamare, located in Bavaria’s spa town Bad Tölz, announced it would have to permanently close its business due to failed negotiations of Jodquellen AG, owner and operator of Alpamare, with the municipality about the future of the waterpark (cf. EAP News from January 16, 2015). Furthermore, attendance figures did no longer meet the expectations of Jodquellen AG. While in good years up to 500,000 people visited Alpamare, in recent times it was just 200,000 people annually. As a consequence, after 45 years, the waterpark stops its operations as of today. The drop in visitor numbers is, among others, the result of increased competition as well as a lack of investment in the waterpark’s modernity. (eap)
