Hassloch/Germany: Plopsa Holiday Park to Build New Indoor Theme Park

Germany’s Plopsa Holiday Park in Hassloch is going to expand its existing offer with the construction of an indoor theme park to be opened in summer 2018 near the park’s “Platz der Fontänen” area. The Plopsa Group, which had taken over the German park in 2010, has announced extensive investments amounting to some 7.5 million Euros to realize the planned project.

Following the concept of the operating group’s already existing indoor parks in Belgium and the Netherlands, “Holiday Indoor” will feature a versatile offer for families on an area of some 5,000 square meters. This includes attractions such as a family rollercoaster (from Zierer), an interactive flight carousel, a kids’ merry-go-round, a big slide and a playground for the youngest children. The theming of the new indoor park will feature the world of “Heidi” – a character guests know from the park’s daily parade and meet & greet options. Also they will encounter “Tabaluga” and the recently acquired and in Germany well-known “Mia & Me” characters. Furthermore, the indoor park will host a theater with a capacity of more than 500 guests for daily shows, including another stage in the building’s outside façade for shows and events. A new warehouse is planned to be built adjacent to the indoor park. Constructions works are scheduled to begin in November this year. The expansion of Plopsa Holiday Park Hassloch can be seen as the next step on its way to a year-round resort.

“Following the model of Plopsaland De Panne, with this step we intent to persue our investment and expansion strategy. Also, with the construction of an adjacent water park, we continue implementing our master plan in the following years,” commented Steve van den Kerkhof, CEO of Plopsa Group. In 2016, the park in Hassloch welcomed 580,000 visitors. According to Plopsa Group, some 50 million Euros have been invested into the park in Hassloch since its acquisition seven years ago. (eap)
