Indonesia: MNC Land and MCC Group Plan To Build Theme Park Resort in Indonesia

MNC Land, one of the leading property developer in Indonesia, recently signed a framework agreement with the state-owned company China Metallurgical Corporation (MCC) Group for the design and build of Indonesia’s first integrated theme park resort in Lido, Bogor (located approx. 60 km from Jakarta). The resort’s 55 hectare theme park will feature world-class thrilling rides and shows and will be completed with two hotels and an entertainment hub on a total area of 3,000 hectares. With this project, MNC Land seeks to create a new lifestyle and entertainment destination in Indonesia. “Today marks a pivotal step forward in the expansion of the MNC Group. Developing Indonesia’s first world-class theme park is a natural extension of our unrivalled strength as Southeast Asia’s leading media network, allowing us to leverage synergies in content creation and distribution across the Group, whilst underscoring our commitment to serve the people in Indonesia with the very best in entertainment,” said Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Founder and CEO of MNC Group. With the Chinese MCC Group, which as main contractor will be responsible for the construction and the project management, MNC Land has a global player as its partner, which has already been involved in projects such as the development of Disneyland Shanghai, Universal Studios Singapore and the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom. The Hollywood-based design firm Opak Creative already commenced with the schematic design works, which will feature Indonesia’s rich culture to create a fully-immersive storytelling. To provide the appropriate infrastructure, road works are already underway to connect Jakarta with the future theme park resort. According to MNC Land, construction works are scheduled to begin next year with the aim to open the new resort by 2020. (eap)
