Ireland/USA: The Giant Company Partners with International Theme Park Services

Dublin-based The Giant Company recently announced to partner with US leisure consulting company International Theme Park Services (ITPS) to introduce and market “The Giant” attraction to the leisure industry. The concept for the Giant was developed in cooperation with Germany’s dan pearlman architecture firm and combines an interactive exhibition with impressive architecture and a unique visitor experience (c.f. EAP, issue 4/16). Inspiration, education and entertainment comprise the central focus of the exhibition concept, with an approx. 35 meter high figure as an eye-catching element to be designed according to a desired theme. The first Giant will be launched later in 2017 – the location will soon be revealed by the company. In total, a minimum of twenty Giants is planned to be built over the next decade.

Dennis Speigel, President of International Theme Park Services, is convinced about the innovative concept: “The Giant offers the perfect opportunity for a city to pay homage to its hometown legends, including sports heroes and famous musicians, or for a theme park to showcase its iconic characters like ‘Superman’ or celebrities such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. The possibilities are truly limitless […],” said Speigel. Eric Fraad, Director of Development of The Giant Company, is looking forward to the partnership: “We are excited to work with Dennis and ITPS. Their longstanding and excellent reputation as a leader in the leisure and attractions business makes them the perfect partner to assist us in unveiling our unique Giant attraction. We look forward to the ITPS team being our representatives within the dynamic attractions industry,” he said.

The Giant Company recently appointed Arup to supply construction services, Philips and its UK affiliate Architainment Lighting are in charge of implementing the mapping and control systems that will illuminate The Giant sculpture. (eap)
