Legacy Entertainment Wants to Redefine Retail – 3 Current Projects in the Pipeline

The fact that brick-and mortar retail is facing a radical upheaval in the age of e-commerce and especially in pandemic times, when shutdowns and curfews leave city centers empty, has not just been known for a short time. For some years now, the shopping experience, the so-called customer experience, has been seen as the key to the success of shopping, which above all must be designed with the customer and service in mind. Stationary retail as a place of leisure, so to speak. This topic of reorientation in the retail sector has also been recently taken up by the Californian creative company Legacy Entertainment, which sees the future of stationary retail not in retail itself but in letting “food-focused anchor tenants be the primary driver of visitor incentive” in shopping centers in the coming years.

The company is currently working on the implementation of such “destination dining experiences” near Jakarta (Indonesia), in Saudi Arabia and in China. In addition to the actual food and beverage offerings, various entertainment elements such as immersive environments, live entertainment and, in some cases, amusement rides are to be integrated into the overall concept to attract visitors. Further details on the first project in Indonesia are to be announced this summer. (eap)
