Netherlands: Pop-Up Shop – Contactless Photo Solution for New Revenue Stream Opportunities

Founded in 2016, the Dutch company This Plays! recently added a new pop-up shop photo solution to its product portfolio, aimed in particular at leisure facilities such as zoos, animal parks, FECs and museums. With the new solution, the photo booth and services provider aims to deliver a tool for additional revenue streams, especially in times when visitor capacity restrictions at attractions are on the agenda. The pop-up shop relies on contactless self-service and thus does not require any staff. Under the motto “more than a selfie”, it offers guests, like similar solutions from other manufacturers, the opportunity to be photographed in front of a green screen and thus immerse themselves in a selectable backdrop that matches the respective location. The images can be printed out immediately or forwarded by e-mail and finally shared on social media.

The pop-up shop business model is exclusively revenue-share-based, which means that no costs are associated with the acquisition and the proceeds are shared with the provider. An area of at least six square meters is required for the installation of the photo shop, as well as a power connection and, if available, a WiFi connection (or a cable connection). Customers who already rely on a solution from This Plays! include Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem (NL), Diergaarde Blijdorp in Rotterdam (NL) and SeaLife. (eap)
