Ole Bested Hensing Breaks up with Berliner Bäder-Betriebe …

It was announced only yesterday that Ole Bested Hensing (pictured), CEO of the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (BBB - Europe's largest pool operator), “has asked to be released prematurely from his current term of office at Berliner Bäder-Betriebe as of 30 June 2015 for important family reasons” (official wording). Consequently, sports senator Frank Henkel, chairman of the supervisory board, initiated a supervisory board meeting for next week so that a decision on the request can be taken. BBB were not available for further statements yesterday. However, it can be assumed that the supervisory board will “let” its CEO Ole Bested Hensing “go” as more and more disagreements between the CEO, coming from the private sector to BBB, and his chairman, Berlin’s interior minister, Frank Henkel (CDU), had occurred in the past. In February Henkel presented a pool concept according to which all 62 bathing facilities in Berlin should be maintained under all circumstances – while most of them are in severe need of refurbishment … Bested Hensing had rather been of the opinion that some of the bathing facility should be closed so that others could be refurbished or if necessary new ones be built in order to stay viable and guarantee a high quality level. Now Bested Hensing seems to have pulled out all the stops to no longer be a bar to the supervisory board’s politically motivated decisions and opinions. (eap)
