(eap) Construction work on the new Efteling Grand Hotel at the Dutch theme park started in fall 2022. The park’s director, Nicole Scheffers, has now announced that the planned opening of the hotel will be postponed from 2024 to 2025. She comments: “Everything was going according to plan until the end of September. Unfortunately, it then turned out that one of the Efteling Grand Hotel’s suppliers had filed for bankruptcy, which led to a delay in the construction work. This supplier was working on the construction site on the façade of the new hotel, among other things. Fortunately, this company has since been taken over and the preparatory construction work for the Efteling Grand Hotel has been able to continue,” says Scheffers.

She continues: “As we are now working with another party, the construction schedule has been adjusted. This is of course annoying, but we are happy to be able to continue the work quickly. As a result, the Efteling Grand Hotel will unfortunately not open at the end of 2024, but in 2025. The exact opening date will be announced later. We still have to be patient, but I am already looking forward to the opening!” Details on the planned Efteling Grand Hotel can be found here.

And there is also news on the existing Efteling Hotel, which opened in 1992. A new themed suite will be available to visitors from December 22. The “Hans Christian Andersen Suite” will become the flowery “Droomvlucht”. On an area of 53 square meters, hotel guests will find a romantic double four-poster bed, a sleeping area for children and a renovated bathroom. The suite will be themed in colourful tones in a fairy-tale style including fairies and elves. Also, the “King's Suite” will receive an upgrade. It will be renovated, the interior will be replaced, and new elements will be added. ■
