Rust / Germany: Amusement Park Voted Favored Cultural Sight

Framed by Schloss Neuschwanstein (1st Place) and UNESCO World Heritage Cologne Cathedral (3rd Place), the Europa-Park located in Rust was recently voted second place of Germany’s most popular travel destinations. More than 11,000 users gave their votes between August 2013 and April 2014 in the framework of a survey about the 100 most popular sights and travel destinations of the Germans conducted by the Deutsche Zentrale für Tourismus (DZT). Europa-Park, which was already voted as most popular theme park of Europe on the travel website of TripAdvisor, is proud of its newest honoring. More than half of the virtually five million visitors of Europa-Park come from abroad, around one fourth of the guests come from neighboring France. The latest results are used as an update of the DZT app “Germany’s Top 100” in which users get information in German and English about important travel and trip destinations as well as brief descriptions, pictures and information on opening hours, admission prices and location of the sights. Munich’s Oktoberfest came in tenth place. Two attractions, a theme park and a funfair, which are demonstrating that high-quality leisure and attractions offers are embedded into the cultural life and experiences of people. (eap)
