Singapore: Two New Merlin Attractions to Be Opened on Sentosa Island Soon

Merlin Entertainment’s activities on Singapore’s Sentosa Island are going full speed (cp. EAP news from 31 Jan 2014). On 25 October 2014, the new Madame Tussauds Singapore wax figure museum will be opened. Besides Singapore’s most popular celebrities as well as Asian A-list celebrities, the figures of Johnny Depp,David Beckham or Lady Gaga will equally be joined by the figures of the newly-married couple of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Their figures were created during a three-month period each at Madame Tussaud’s studio in London and were spotted last week at the iconic waterfront location of One Fullertonin Singapore (see picture). Madame Tussauds Singapore will be located at Imbiah Lookout on Sentosa, a cluster of different tourist attractions. The attraction will be housed in the existing Images of Singapore building, which is currently being updated by Merlin. The re-launch of Sentosa’s well-known attraction about Singapore’s history is scheduled for December 2014. A multi-million dollar investment will transform the attraction, which was originally opened in the 80s, to a re-designed live entertainment experience re-branded as Images of Singapore LIVE. On their journey through the nation’s story from fishing village to 21st century powerhouse, guests will experience a unique mix of live actors, special effects and immersive theming with incorporated state-of-the-art audio visual technology and lighting. The final part of the journey will be a trip aboard “The Spirit of Singapore”, a boat ride linking the attraction with its sister attraction, Madame Tussauds Singapore. (eap)
