(eap) The Six Flags Qiddiya theme park currently under construction in Qiddiya City (an entertainment and tourism destination not far from the Saudi capital Riyadh) will also feature a range of family-friendly rides in addition to high thrill attractions the Six Flags brand is known for. An interactive dark ride has now also been announced for the coming new theme park destination, which will be called “Into the Deep” and will take visitors on an exciting underwater expedition staged by using state-of-the-art media technology.

The attraction from the Canadian manufacturer Triotech will span over 2,400 square metres and will include several interactive media scenes equipped with special effects. The vehicles, which are designed for rapid rotation and acceleration, will each seat four people side by side. According to the underlying storyline, it is up to the passengers to protect and restore the beauty and wonders of life underwater. The dark ride, which is designed to be suitable for all age groups, will be located in the “Discovery Springs” area – one of six different themed areas at Six Flags Qiddiya.

Directly adjacent to the park, a water park is also under construction: In addition to hotels and further entertainment and gastronomic offerings, Aquarabia will complement the Six Flags park, putting Qiddiya City on the map of large leisure destinations in the Arabian region eager to appeal to international tourists. ■
