UK: Drayton Manor to Open New Vikings Land with Three New Rides This Spring & More

In less than two weeks, on 26 March, England’s Drayton Manor (Staffordshire) will start off into its new season. Shortly before the opening, the amusement park, which belongs to the Looping Group, has announced details of its new themed area, which will be handed over to visitors this spring. In the new “Vikings” land, the theming of which will be inspired by ancient gods and legends, guests will be able to discover three brand-new attractions: “Thor”, a Disk’O Coaster by Zamperla, “Loki”, according to the park the first Zamperla NebulaZ model in the UK, and “Sleipnir”, a “training school” for little Vikings (an electric horse riding track by Metallbau Emmeln), where they can learn more about the legend of the mythical Viking horse of the same name.

In addition, visitors will find the popular family attraction “Buffalo Coaster” (an existing powered coaster by Zamperla) in a new design and under the name “Jormungandr”, in reference to the Midgard Serpent (a Norse mythology serpant, which winds itself around the world), in the new area. The new Viking land is rounded off by the new “Walhalla” restaurant, inspired by the historic afterworld where fallen warriors were send to rest in peace after battle. In addition, the park’s own four-star hotel will soon offer ten new Viking-themed rooms to complement the visitor experience. By the way: For the new season, the management of the park will be taken over by its new Managing Director Victoria Lynn, read more here. (eap)
