USA: “Dragon Challenge“ to be Replaced by Harry Potter Ride

Yesterday, Universal announced that the “Dragon Challenge” inverted dueling coaster (from Bolliger & Mabillard) in the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme area at Universal’s Islands of Adventure will be closed down this year to make room for a new Harry Potter thrill ride, which will be constructed in the same place to be launched in 2019. Until September 4th, visitors to Islands of Adventure can still enjoy a ride on “Dragon Challenge”, before the construction works for the new coaster begin.

In cooperation with Warner Bros. and the production team of the Harry Potter movies, Universal’s creative team is creating the all-new, interactive attraction featuring a high level of storytelling and encounters with beloved Harry Potter characters and creatures. Yesterday, the company posted on its blog that “this ride is going to redefine the category and transport you to thrilling places, drawing you into even more exciting adventures within the wizarding world. It’s going to be the perfect addition to Hogsmeade”. (eap)
