USA: New Attraction Breaks Ground at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

On May 29, 2015 Florida’s Kennedy Space Center visitor complex broke ground on its new interactive “Heroes and Legends” attraction designed to immerse guests in the stories of America’s pioneering space heroes. The new attraction will not only bring to life the astronauts’ enthralling stories, but also invite guests to “vicariously experience the thrills and dangers of America’s earliest missions through high-tech elements and special effects, including simulated holograms and augmented reality.” The highlight of “Heroes and Legends” will be a “3D omnidirectional theater, designed to make guests feel as though they are floating in the vastness of space.” Furthermore, a new version of the “U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame”, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, will allow guests to interact virtually with nearly 100 astronaut heroes inducted to date.

Orlando-based design company Falcon’s Treehouse will supply its services including concept design, schematic design, design development, media production and executive production. Other partners in the design and construction of “Heroes and Legends” include BRPH, Electrosonic, HW Davis and The Nassal Company. The opening of “Heroes and Legends” is scheduled for 2016. (eap)
