USA: Stranger Things Experience to Open in New York City

The science fiction series “Stranger Things“ has been one of the most hyped series of the streaming provider Netflix since its debut in 2016, which already led to the opening of two pop-up retail shops in Los Angeles and New York City last year – by the way, the long-awaited fourth season starts worldwide tomorrow. The series is about a group of friends with the main characters Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Eleven, a girl with superhuman powers, who investigate the mysterious happenings in the fictional town of Hawkins and have to fight against a secret government institution and creatures from another world.

Now, Netflix is going one step further and will open the Stranger Things Experience in New York City in cooperation with the online leisure platform Fever on 7 May. In the 3,200-square-metre event location The Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, visitors enter “Hawkins Plaza“ and will quickly realise that nothing seems as it is. During the 45-minute experience, which was developed together with the show‘s creators, guests become part of the Stranger Things universe and discover the “Hawkins Lab“ as well as the parallel world “Upside Down“, where they must use their “secret powers“ to save the city from lurking dangers. Audiovisual effects will promote a particularly immersive experience.

Following the experience, visitors can eat and shop in a themed F&B and retail area. “The rift is open and we’re excited that our Stranger Things fans will get to jump into the magic once more. This time they will take on the challenges themselves and work alongside Eleven, Mike, and the rest of the gang to fight the evil monsters plaguing Hawkins. As Dustin would say, you always say we should never stop being curious, to always open any curiosity door we find,” comments Greg Lombardo, Head of Experiences at Netflix. More Stranger Things Experience destinations are set to open in San Francisco and other cities around the world later this year. (eap)
