Landal GreenParks Expanding

The holiday park operator Landal GreenParks can look back on a successful year in 2006. Growing numbers of guests and the optimisation of the service spectrum have lead to an 11% increase in turnover, climbing to 215 million euros. Within the scope of a quality offensive in 2007, ten million euros will be invested in the improvement of the range of offerings and five new parks will be opened in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Also, 15 per cent more reservations have already been noted for January 2007 than for January of last year. “Our course of expansion and the clear focus on quality pay for themselves,” says Thomas Heerkens, Managing Director of the operating group that currently has 60 parks. Apart from the close collaboration with travel agencies, the Internet has contributed to Landal’s growth. The volume of online reservations made in 2006 increased by 75 per cent – around 36 per cent of all Landal guests book their holiday online. The former Dutch holiday park operator was taken over by the US-American enterprise Cendant in 2004. Over the course of restructuring the parent company, Landal GreenParks was swallowed in July 2006 by Wyndham Worldwide, which is traded on the New York stock exchange. (eap)
