USA: The Legends Are Back! Bob Rogers Reunites the Creative Minds Behind Universal’s Spider-Man Attraction in Orlando

Bob Rogers – Founder and CEO of BRC Imagination Arts and a living legend in the field of creative design himself, storyteller and developer of numerous internationally renowned attractions – curates and moderates the now-legendary annual “Legends Panel” at IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida.

This year, Bob Rogers (above left) brings together three of the leading creative masterminds behind the original Spider-Man attraction to talk about their masterpiece of what was, at the time, a one-of-a-kind attraction and find out how they have since successfully continued the pathways for world-class innovations and creative leadership.

“The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man” opened at Universal’s Islands of Adventure more than 20 years ago and has changed the world of indoor attractions forever. Thierry Coup, Phil Hettema and Scott Trowbridge, three legendary superstars of the attractions industry, will share firsthand details of the creation of the Spider-Man attraction, how they led the team that conceived this groundbreaking attraction and how they brought it to life. You will get to know insights, creative leadership strategies and life lessons – lessons in boldness, creativity and leadership …

Thierry Coup (below left) was the Production Designer for The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man during his time as Creative Director at Universal Creative. He then worked on projects such as “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”, “Transformers: The Ride” and “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley”. Today, Thierry Coup is senior VP and Chief Creative Officer at Universal Creative. Over the past 30 years, he has worked in various creative roles at both Universal and Disney. Phil Hettema (above right) was appointed Senior VP Attraction Development at Universal Creative after the opening of Spider-Man. Today, Phil is President and Creative Director of The Hettema Group (THG), where he creates “stories you can touch”. Since 2002, THG has been interweaving compelling narratives with technology to create experiences with emotional resonance. Last but not least, Scott Trowbridge (below right) served as Show Producer on the first Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man when he was VP, Creative Studio Leader at Universal Creative. Today, Scott serves as Portfolio Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering and focuses on developing new experiences as well as Lucasfilm and Star Wars projects on a global scale.
