Germany: LEGOLAND Germany Reveals Secret about New Theme Area Coming in 2023: “LEGO Mythica”, a World of Fantastic Creatures

At the start of next year’s season, Germany’s LEGOLAND Resort in Guenzburg (Bavaria) will open the new theme area “LEGO Mythica”. The park’s eleventh area is currently under construction on a site covering 1.2 hectares between the “Land of the Pharaohs” theme area and the “King’s Castle” of the LEGOLAND vacation village. As of next spring, visitors will be able to discover a world full of mythical fantasy creatures made of hundreds of thousands of Lego bricks and with a number of new attractions – among others, there will be a new roller coaster with a short overhead section, which, however, will already be approved for children of elementary school age with a body height of at least 1.20 meters. A second ride attraction for the youngest guests, a playground and an activity offer designed to encourage creativity and imagination will also be part of the new theme world. Worldwide, this is the second realization of a “LEGO Mythica” area in a Legoland park – the first opened in 2021 at England’s LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, where a flying theater (type: m-Ride by Brogent) is one of the main attractions (cf. EAP 4/2021). The implementation of a similar themed area in Guenzburg represents the largest and most expensive expansion of the German Legoland park to date.

“With LEGO Mythica, a completely new themed world is making its way into our park. The other ten areas are more oriented towards classic themes, such as pirates, knights, adventurers or LEGO City. Now we can also offer our guests a themed area that stimulates creativity and imagination, where there are no prescribed rules and standards. Mythica symbolically represents a world where creatures created in domestic children’s rooms come to life. Some of these fantasy animals also find their place in the new Legoland theme area as breathtaking, life-size Lego models. Flying lions, one-eyed trolls, dogs with peacock feathers, colorful unicorns and many more will live here. Guests can really look forward to how cool and colorful LEGO Mythica will be,” says Legoland Germany’s Managing Director, Manuela Stone, looking forward to the new themed area. Guests can already get a taste of it: A 4D film adventure based on the Mythica fantasy world can be experienced in the LEGO Studios. (eap)
