USA: New Interactive “Minions” Attraction to Debut at Universal Studios Florida in 2023

In the summer of 2023, the emerging new “Minion Land” at Universal Studios Florida (part of Universal Orlando Resort) is set to receive a new interactive gaming attraction called “Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast”. In addition to the existing “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” simulator ride, which will also be part of the newly created area, this new addition is designed to provide family fun centered around the little yellow creatures.

In line with the new attraction’s underlying storyline, guests will head to “Villain-Con”, the planet’s largest convention for villains. The visitors’ task is to take part in a competition to become the newest member of “The Vicious 6” – a group of super villains known from the animation movie “Minions: The Rise of Gru”. They get equipped with an interactive blaster shooter and embark on a mission along a motion-based pathway to point their blaster at various items and wreak as much mayhem as possible by hitting them. Multiple scenes and innovative screen technology are used to make the attraction an exciting experience for the whole family.

In addition to Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast, the new Minion Land at Universal Studios Florida is also slated to receive a Minion Café and other features along the park’s “Illumination Ave”. Santa Monica, California-based animation studio Illumination holds an exclusive financing and distribution partnership with Universal Pictures – the new attraction was planned by Universal’s creative team in collaboration with Illumination.
