Abu Dhabi/ UAE: Ferrari World Designs Attraction in RideView™

Last summer, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi announced the introduction of seven new rides over a period of three years (cf. EAP News, July 16, 2014). For the creation of one of these attractions, which is expected to open next year, the Arabian theme park uses a special design platform developed by Holovis.

“RideView™” is a software suite providing 1:1 scale models of the attraction’s designs before the construction works start. The visualisation and simulation process takes place in the “Holovis VR CAVE” environment, a five-sided holographic-effect room where all sides feature 3-D volumetric projection with full head-tracking and interaction. In this way, walking through, exploring and even riding the attraction prior to the actual construction is possible.

“This acceleration and increased richness of the development process increases the engagement of the whole project team, mitigating risk throughout the review process by identifying potential issues that ordinarily would only have been found once the site build began. This saves time and expense; both critical factors in any project of this type,” George Walker, Creative Director at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi explains. The theme park also engaged Holovis to design and deliver all the complex immersive AV systems for the attraction itself and show-produce the media. (eap)
