Philippines: Enchanted Kingdom to be Expanded

AGILA Flying Theatre

Enchanted Kingdom’s Chief Operating Officer, Cynthia Mamon, revealed the Philippine-based theme park’s plans to double its land area in order to expand its attractions portfolio. Thus, the park intents to increase the visitors’ length of stay and to attract more visitors. The park’s “2020 Vision” foresees a growth in ground area from currently 17 to 34 hectares. The long-term plan also includes the construction of a cultural village – an attraction especially aimed at foreign tourists –, a water park, a hotel as well as a convention center. Furthermore, the retail and dining possibilities will be extended.

In addition to the expansion plans, Enchanted Kingdom published further information with regard to the new attraction that will be introduced next year (cf. EAP News from July 15, 2015). In June 2016, the theme park will open the “AGILA Flying Theatre”, custom-designed by SimEx-Iwerks. Equipped with a SkyRide system as well as the latest in projection and 4-D motion theatre technology, AGILA will feature the Philippine’s beauty in a 7-minute film that simulates an interactive flying experience with high definition 6K cinematography. The theatre’s name, AGILA, comes from the Philippine eagle Agila, a national symbol. Enchanted Kingdom partners with the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) to protect and preserve the eagle. (eap)
