Iceland: Pursuit Announces “FlyOver Iceland“ Flying Theater Attraction to Open in Reykjavik in 2019

Eine ähnliche FlyOver-Attraktion wie in Kanada wird ab 2019 auch in der isländischen Hauptstadt zu finden sein.

Iceland’s capital of Reykjavik is to be home of a new “FlyOver” simulator attraction, a flying theater which is scheduled to open in 2019. “FlyOver Iceland” will offer guests a spectacular flight experience over Iceland’s breathtaking landscape, based on the concept of Vancouver’s “FlyOver Canada” attraction featuring the “I-Ride” ride system from Vekoma and Brogent (cf. EAP, 6/13), owned and operated by Pursuit (a business unit of Viad Corp). FlyOver Canada – formerly part of the portfolio of Soaring Attractions LP – was taken over by Pursuit in early 2017. According to a spokesperson from Pursuit, the investors are currently speaking with a number of flight ride technology providers for the new attraction in Iceland, but have yet to make their final selection.

“[…] We are thrilled to expand that concept into a new iconic tourism destination. Located in Reykjavik, Iceland this attraction will be our first expansion outside of North America and, with the region enjoying robust tourism growth, it’s the perfect location for a ‘FlyOver’ attraction,” said David Barry, President of Pursuit. The company will operate FlyOver Iceland through the Icelandic entity Esja Attractions ehf. (Esja). Through a majority equity investment by Viad, Esja has secured the necessary equity funding required to construct the new visitor attraction. (eap)
