USA: Disney’s California Adventure Park to Open New Pixar Pier Area in Mid-2018

In summer of 2018, Disney’s California Adventure Park will see the opening of its new “Pixar Pier” area themed around the beloved IP brands of Disney·Pixar, a division of The Walt Disney Company. The area will replace “Paradise Pier” along the southern shore of “Paradise Bay”, featuring four whimsical neighborhoods offering guests a versatile mixture of entertainment, themed food and beverage, and merchandise.

The “California Screamin’” multi-inversion coaster (from Intamin), which was opened at Paradise Pier in 2001, will be refreshed with a new Pixar themed design based on the upcoming “The Incredibles 2” movie, which is scheduled to premiere in US cinemas on June 14th, 2018. A distinctive look, new character moments, scenes and special effects will create a new ride experience on the new “Incrediecoaster”.

Also, the first neighborhood will be inspired by “The Incredibles”, while another theme area will feature “Toy Story” developed around the popular “Toy Story Mania!” attraction. Another new neighborhood, inspired by Disney·Pixar’s “Inside Out” production, will debut a new family-friendly attraction that is scheduled to open at a later date. A fourth new area will celebrate a collection of guest-favorite Pixar stories: “Mickey’s Fun Wheel” will be themed with a new look and each of the 24 gondolas will showcase a different Pixar character. The remaining areas of the original Paradise Pier will become a new land called “Paradise Park”. (eap)
