France: Nausicaá Aquarium Presents New Giant Fish Tank

Located in the coastal town of Boulogne-sur-Mer in the north of France, the Nausicaá aquarium has recently expanded its visitor offer with the installation of a new, 10,000 cubic meter large salt water tank, which is now home to a large number of sea animals such as Manta Rays and Hammerhead Sharks.

With a length of 60 meters and a width of 35 meters the new basin is the largest exhibition tank at Nausicaá – it replicates the habitat of the Pacific Ocean around Colombia’s Malpelo island. Several interactive infotainment stations provide visitors with information on the complex ecosystem of that region. A 20 meter large and five meter high glass wall as well as an 18 meter long glass tunnel enable guests to enjoy a panoramic view into the new bassin.

With a total of some 58,000 animals living in just under 70 tanks Nausicaá is one of the largest aquariums in Europe. (eap)
