European Brass Ring Awards 2018 Winners

The Brass Ring Awards, which are presented annually in several categories by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), were bestowed to leisure operations and manufacturing companies during this year’s IAAPA Expo in Orlando.

Among the award winners were the following recipients from Europe: Swedish zoo and theme park Skånes Djurpark received five Brass Ring awards in the following categories: “Food & Beverage Excellence: Best New Menu Item” (for its menu item “Poopies & Poopcakes”), “Best Employee Reward & Recognition Program”, “Best Innovation in Training Program”, “Best Digital Marketing Campaign” and “Best Social Media Campaign”.

Another Brass Ring Award went to Sweden: Furuvik Djurpark was awarded for the “Best Television or Digital Video Commercial” produced for its new “Spökjakten” interactive family dark ride opened in spring this year (cf. our cover story in EAP 4/2018).

Germany’s Europa-Park was honored with a Brass Ring Award (“Best Store Visual Merchandising”) for its new “Europa-Park Factory Shop powered by Majorette”. In this new flagship store in the park’s Russian theme area visitors can find new model vehicle collections, toys and gift sets from the toy manufacturer and can also create their own Majorette model in the “Majorette Car Configurator”.

In the “Best Theatrical Production” category, Italy’s Leolandia amusement park received a Brass Ring Award for its new “Favola” musical production.

The “Spirit Award” 2018, which is presented annually to a person for outstanding achievements “behind the scenes”, this year went to Ulrich Grawunder, who has been serving as show director and actor in Europa-Park’s entertainment program for many years.
