USA: Hersheypark Breaks Ground on “Hershey’s Chocolatetown“

Pennsylvania’s Hersheypark has recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its new “Hershey’s Chocolatetown” theme area, which is scheduled to open in summer 2020, featuring a number of attractions, shops and a themed restaurant. The costs of this park expansion amount to some 150 million US Dollars (130 million Euros) – the highest capital investment of the park in its history.

Highlight of the new, 49-hectare (121 acres) large theme area will be a new rollercoaster, the “tallest, fastest, longest and sweetest” of the park, according to Hersheypark. In addition, the existing nostalgic “Carrousel” family attraction will be relocated to become part of Chocolatetown and guests can also look forward to a chocolate-themed restaurant. After its opening, the new park area will be open year-round for visitors.

“We are incredibly excited to officially break ground and enter this next chapter in the rich history of Hersheypark,” said John Lawn, President & CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. “Hersheypark will be open and fully operational during 2019 as Chocolatetown comes to life for the summer of 2020,” Lawn added.
