USA: Michael Spanos Named New President & CEO of Six Flags Entertainment

Yesterday, Six Flags Entertainment announced the appointment of former PepsiCo manager Michael Spanos as new President and CEO of the operating group, effective November 18th, 2019. Also, Spanos has joined the Six Flags board of directors. Succeeding Jim Reid-Anderson, who will resign from his positions as a director and officer of the company in November, Spanos will relocate with his family to the Six Flags headquarters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. Previously, the 55-year old served as CEO of PepsiCo, leading the company’s business in the Asia, Middle East and North Africa (AMENA) region. Since 1993, Spanos has worked in several management roles for PepsiCo.

“As a major investor in Six Flags, I have the utmost confidence in Mike’s ability to further supercharge our growth initiatives, continue to drive innovation and deliver significant short, medium and long-term value for our stakeholders,” says Jim Reid-Anderson.

Spanos adds, “I am thrilled to join the dedicated and talented employees of Six Flags. Jim has built an amazing legacy, and I look forward to the next horizon of growth. It is a privilege to be able to lead such a superb organization.”

In addition to Spanos’ appointment, Richard Roedel, who has been serving as a member of the Six Flags board of directors since 2010, was named Non-Executive Chairman of the board, also effective November 18th. (eap)
