GB: New Entertainment Complex Including Ski Slope Coming to Middlesbrough

The British city of Middlesbrough recently gave its “green light“ for the development of a new leisure and entertainment complex. The Subzero Centre, which will be located at the city’s historic docks, is set to attract visitors with a variety of leisure offerings including an indoor ski slope, which will offer a 52-metre long nursery slope for beginners and a 165-metre long slope for more experienced skiers. Additionally, the 34 million euro (30 million pound sterling) facility, which will be operated by Cool Runnings NE, will attract guests with a snow and ice bar, indoor skydiving, a bowling alley, a trampoline park, a soft play area, a climbing wall and a gym in combination with retail stores as well as restaurants and cafes.

„[…] The unusual shape of the site, its unique heritage feature and dockside location, have provided the opportunity to create a characterful waterfront leisure destination with a strong regional draw. […],“ said Russ Davenport, Partner at FaulknerBrowns Architects, the company which created the complex. In order to ensure a better infrastructure and direct access onto the highway, the Middlesbrough Council invested over 11 million euro (10 million pound sterling). (eap)
