Austria: Therme Wien Provides a Sanitary And Safe Sauna Experience

Since May 29th, the indoor pools of Therme Wien are open again open to visitors – now, one month later, also the sauna area of the thermal bathing facility has been reopened. Again, Therme Wien developed extensive safety and hygiene measures for the sauna area in cooperation with hygiene expert Hans-Peter Hutter of Medical University Vienna. For this reason, only the Finnish saunas are currently available, as they have a temperature of more than 80 degrees. To minimize contact with other guests and to ensure the necessary safety distance, partitions were installed in the chambers, seating areas were marked and the capacity was reduced. In addition, there are increased cleaning and surface disinfection intervals. Infusion rituals with creams, peelings or fronds are suspended until further notice

Edmund Friedl, Managing Director of Therme Wien emphasises: “We are proceeding very cautiously with the gradual opening of our spa facilities, because great care is still required. Although we should think economically and prefer to make all services available to our guests without restriction, we must accept our responsibility and proceed with particular caution in view of the novelty of the virus. We have therefore decided to open the sauna area step by step - first with the Finnish sauna chambers and a reduced number of guests.“ (eap)
