Irritation among European Manufacturers – IAAPA Continues Postponing Decision about Orlando Show

In recent weeks, there have been numerous and repeated comments from suppliers and manufacturers in the leisure industry saying that the cancellation of IAAPA Expo (still scheduled to take place from 17-20 Nov in Orlando, FL) is unavoidable this year. The Asian and European shows have already been cancelled. Now, the Italian industry association ANCASVI and the German Association of Amusement Machinery & Accessory Manufacturers (VDV) have sent an official letter to the IAAPA leadership. In this letter, the associations, which together represent 90 European companies of the leisure and attractions sector, demand an immediate decision and the cancellation of the 2020 trade show. On August 6th, the IAAPA management had informed its members once again that all their staff were continuing to work on the planning of the trade fair event and that a final decision will be made until September 4th. This weekend, four of the major US manufacturing companies and IAAPA exhibitors also made very clear in an open letter their discontent about IAAPA’s delaying tactics and appealed to the common sense of those responsible. Read the complete open letter here.

Francesco Ferrari, President of the ANCASVI, and VDV President Wieland Schwarzkopf agree: “…we believe it is appropriate to postpone the exhibition event to the next year. Some of our associates do not consider it appropriate to postpone the event to the beginning of the following year (Jan/Feb)”, since the relaxation of the current situation would not seem probable until then.
