Germany: Klutensee Bathing Complex Reopens for Operation

There are finally positive prospects for the bathing complexes, thermal spas and waterparks in Germany, too! Based on the model project funded by the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the general regulation issued by the Coesfeld district, the Klutensee-Bad in Lüdinghausen reopens for operations as of today. Even though the fitness, sauna and catering areas will have to remain closed, Dr. Michael Quell, managing partner and owner of Aquapark Management GmbH, which operates the Klutensee complex, is “very pleased to finally be able to offer orderly and safe public swimming again.” “The opening of the pools is urgently needed, because we fulfill an important social task – not only for health maintenance and physical fitness, but also in particular in the acquisition of swimming ability – keyword courses for beginners’ swimming. That’s why we’re very happy to finally be able to get going again,” says Quell.

Even though the operator is aware that in the event of an unfavorable development of the incidence values, there is always the risk of the model project being discontinued, it is certain that this can be avoided by means of the already proven hygiene protocols and all the additional measures that have now been taken. In addition to online booking, visitor number limits and registration via app, an up-to-date certified negative test and all hygienic rules also form the basis of the pool operation. “Since a drive-in testing center is even available directly in front of the Klutensee bathing complex, testing shortly before the visit is also possible at any time. And to ensure the safety of all guests and staff, employees are of course also subjected to a daily Corona test,” states Dr. Michael Quell.

By the way: After the 5-star thermal spa hotel Belvedere in Scharbeutz (Baltic Sea) in a so-called model region has been open since 8 May 2021, Robin Stork, managing partner of the Stork Group, which also operates the thermal bathing complex “Ostseetherme Scharbeutz” next to the hotel, also hopes that the bathing complex there will also be allowed to start operating again quite soon.
