Netherlands: “Avalon” is the Name of Toverland’s New Theme Area

After construction works for the largest expansion of Dutch Toverland amusement park until to date had started in early September (cf. EAP news from September 6th & May 5th, 2017), the park has recently revealed the name of the planned new theme area: “Avalon” will immerse guests into a fantastic world around wizard Merlin and King Arthur, featuring a Wing Coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) and a boat tour from German manufacturer Mack Rides.

With a height of just under 40 meters and a track length of some 813 meters, the “Fēnix” Wing Coaster will be the longest installation of this coaster model from B&M in Europe. Riders will experience a maximum speed of 95 km/h, rushing through three inversions. For families the park’s new theme area will feature the 430 meter long “Merlin’s Quest” water ride taking guests onto a journey in search of “Tir na nÓg” – the “Fountains of Eternal Life”. It will feature 14 boats, two of which will be accessible for handicapped guests.

The opening of “Avalon”, which is scheduled for next year, is set to boost Toverland’s visitor attendance – by 2020, the park seeks to reach the “magic number” of one million guests. (eap)
