Australia: Tweed Billabong Joins Waterpark Trend

BIG4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park, Australia

The camping and caravan industry is currently booming in Australia. The number of people spending their holidays at camping facilities has been steadily growing over the last few years, with families as the most important target group. For operators of caravan parks this means new expanding opportunities but at the same time increased competition. Therefore, they have to seek for new possibilities in order to enhance their facility’s attractiveness. One of the primary ways that the parks are doing so is with the addition of waterpark amenities. The Australian BIG4 Caravan Park franchise follows this trend by adding waterparks to its high-quality accommodation options. BIG4 partners with Australia’s aquatic industry specialist Swimplex Aquatics and Polin Waterparks from Turkey to provide several of its sites with water features. The Tweed Billabong Holiday Park located in New South Wales, for example, opened a water playground for kids this past June. The waterpark offers three areas aimed at different age groups. According to park owner Andrew Tribe, the playground adds great value for guests as it provides children with both an active and educational experience. “Kids are stuck on their personal devices or computers too much at home and school. Their holidays need to be an active and fun time spent reconnecting with their parents,” he comments. (eap)
