In the Indian capital of New Delhi, the British operator group Merlin Entertainments recently opened its first midway attraction in the South Asian country: Madame Tussauds Delhi, the 23rd "Madame Tussauds" wax figure exhibition worldwide. The attraction is located in the historic Regal building at Connaught Place, a highly-frequented district in the city. Visitors can marvel at a total of 50 wax figures – following Merlin's concept for this kind of attraction, the wax figures represent well-known personalities, including famous sportsmen, actors, singers and historic people.

“Madame Tussauds Delhi marks an exciting milestone in our midway roll out in Asia, representing our first foray into India and building on the announcement earlier this year of plans to open ‘Dungeon’ and ‘Little BIG City’ attractions in China in 2018 [c.f. EAP news from March 21st, 2017]. Recent growth trends in domestic tourism in India present a great opportunity for Merlin and we are delighted to have brought this much-loved brand to Delhi,” explains John Jakobsen, Chief New Openings Officer, Merlin Entertainments.

Anshul Jain, General Manager and Director, Merlin Entertainments India Pvt. Ltd., adds: “We have had an overwhelming response from the people of Delhi and the wider region in the build up to this opening. They will now have the opportunity to be immersed in this impressive attraction, where they will be encouraged to pose, interact and even perform with the figures in this wonderful setting. It will be the destination for many unforgettable memories for visitors in the coming months and beyond.” (eap)
