(eap) The Danish theme park Tivoli in Copenhagen kicked off the 2024 summer season last weekend. This year, visitors can look forward to various shows and events. The pantomime theatre is celebrating its 150th anniversary, so the season is all about dance. From May 16 to 18, the Hamburg Ballet John Neumaier and from August 14 to 18, one of the world’s best ballet companies, the New York City Ballet, will be guests at the Tivoli Concert Hall. On June 22, a new ballet created by Queen Margrethe (scenographer), Tobias Praetorius (soloist) and Philip Faber (composer & conductor) based on the fairy tale “Tölpel-Hans” by Hans Christian Andersen will celebrate its premiere.

Furthermore, there are jazz concerts on Wednesdays from May to August and ten classical open-air concerts throughout the year. From April 12 to September 20, there are also pop and rock concerts by Danish and international artists every Friday. These include a concert by the British pop band Take That on June 28. Another highlight this year is the 180th anniversary of the Tivoli Gardens Youth Guard, which will be celebrated with a big anniversary concert on September 1.

In addition to attractions, shows and events, visitors can also enjoy various gastronomic offerings. New this year is the takeover of the “Færgekro” restaurant by the Danish brewery Mikkeller. The menu includes classics such as schnitzel, minced steak and plaice fillet as well as various vegetarian dishes. During the summer season, gourmets can look forward to four Michelin-starred pop-up restaurants in the Japanese Tower. The „Tivoli Food Festival“ takes place from May 18 to 26. ■
