World Record Attempt: Maya mare Takes Part in the „World’s Largest Swimming Lesson“

Today, on Thursday, June 18, the World Waterpark Association (WWA) organizes the „World’s Largest Swimming Lesson” for the sixth time already. The German Maya mare is one of the swimming pool facilities participating in this year’s world record attempt, which takes place between 10 and 10:30 am (local time) all over the world.

The yearly event is primarily aimed at emphasizing the importance of swimming lessons and providing beginners with a basic knowledge of security inside and outside the swimming pool. Besides, children are encouraged to take part in swimming lessons. For this purpose, the same important contents are taught during the 30-minute course worldwide in each participating swimming pool facility. Apart from general information about security and how to safely enter the swimming pool, the beginners learn how to hold their breath under water and react in case of emergency. At the end of the course, the participants are introduced to some basic swimming movements.

In the previous years, the World Waterpark Association could successfully generate five Guinness World Record entries with the organization of this event. In order to set a new record, a number of 40,000 participants is necessary this year. (eap)
