USA: “The Edge“ – New Slide Highlight Coming to Soaky Mountain Waterpark in 2022

From the 2022 season, visitors to the Soaky Mountain Waterpark in Sevierville, Tennessee, will be able to discover a unique, adrenaline-infused new slide experience. With “The Edge“, the world‘s first duelling master blaster, a water coaster by WhiteWater West, including a Boomerango element, will be installed at the park, which opened in June last year (see EAP news of 27 June 2020). From a 20-metres-high (70 feet) tower, the two tube slides, which consist of both open and closed tube sections, start with an almost ten-metre drop. From this, the sliders are accelerated into the slide by the blast jets. To enhance the feeling of acceleration, “AquaLucent“ stripes are installed inside the closed tubes, imitating increased speed by becoming shorter and shorter. Further drop elements as well as the two Boomerangos at the end of the two slide lanes offer an exciting slide adventure with zero gravity factor.

Dave Andrews, General Manager of Soaky Mountain Waterpark, comments: “Our new water coaster, fittingly named, ‘The Edge’ is going to be a showstopper! It will be perched on the edge of our waterpark, and span two football fields in length. It’s fusing together WhiteWater’s Master Blaster water coaster with their iconic Boomerango. But, we are not adding just one slide, we are doubling it for a dueling thrill!”
