Ireland: Tayto Park Gets New Name and Invests 30 Million Euros over the Next Two Years

Opened in 2010 in Ashbourne, in County Meath, Ireland, not far from Dublin, Tayto Park will not be called what it currently is, but will have a new name in the future. This is due to the fact that the theme park’s title sponsorship, based on a partnership with Irish potato chip manufacturer Tayto Snacks (formerly Largo Foods), will end of 31 December 2022. From January 2023, the leisure park and zoo, which has welcomed more than five million visitors since its opening, will have a new name and identity.

Speaking on the announcement, park founder Raymond Coyle said, “I am delighted to have aligned with one of the most iconic Irish brands, so successfully, for over a decade. Our partnership with Tayto Snacks has helped to create one of Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions in little over 12 years. We have decided that in order to expand and meet our ambitious targets for the park, now is the opportune time to rename the park to better reflect the exciting rides, attractions and zoo that are coming over the next few years.”

Coyle adds, “We now look forward to a new and exciting chapter for the park, with many new developments planned, including an investment of €30 million over the next 2 years. […]” Currently, three new roller coasters are planned, the first of which is scheduled to open this spring: “Dino Dash”, a Junior Coaster from Vekoma. The other two coasters – a Family Boomerang and a Suspended Thrill Coaster – will also be delivered by the Dutch manufacturer (cf. EAP news of 26 June 2020). Construction on the two intertwined steel coasters is scheduled to start this spring, with an opening expected for the 2024 season. (eap)
