Netherlands: Personnel Changes at Efteling Theme Park

Markus Sadowski, Maike Altmann, Maritza Gerber und Alexander Mierzwa (v.l.n.r.)

The Dutch theme park Efteling has announced personnel changes. Maritza Gerber is leaving her position as country manager of the park, which she has held since 2008. With a 400 percent increase in visitor numbers from Germany, she has helped the park to notable successes, but now it is time for new projects, as she herself announced. From January 2023, Markus Sadowski will be in charge of the German market as commercial manager. In October, he changed jobs from the global Nestlé group to the largest theme park in the Netherlands. In the future, it will thus be in Sadowski‘s hands to further raise the park‘s profile in Germany. “I am very much looking forward to the task, as I am convinced that Efteling, as the largest Dutch amusement park and one of the top 3 most visited amusement parks in Europe, still has a lot of potential in Germany. Above all, I would like to push the topic of overnight stays – after all, the opening of the Efteling Grand Hotel in 2024 will add a great option to the offer,“ says the future commercial manager.

In addition, the theme park‘s marketing team has received support from Maike Altmann, who has been working alongside Alexander Mierzwa, the campaign marketing manager for Germany, since October of this year. Altmann has previously worked for the Italian eyewear manufacturer Safilo S.p.A. and the pet supplies chain Fressnapf in the areas of trade marketing and category merchandising, and will support the theme park in the planning, implementation and evaluation of marketing measures in the future.
