Parc Astérix Announces Opening Date for New “Le Festival Toutatis” Theme Area

As was announced today, the opening date for the new themed area called “Le Festival Toutatis” and its signature ride, the LSM launch coaster “Toutatis”, has now been settled: As of 8th April, visitors to the amusement park located north of Paris will be able to discover the park’s season novelties. After the park, which is part of the Compagnie des Alpes group, was able to set a new visitor record last year with 2.6 million people, new records are to be set this year with the Intamin roller coaster:

With a maximum speed of 110 km/h and a height of 51 meters, the new attraction is set to open as the fastest and highest roller coaster in the country. On the more than 1,300-meter-long track, passengers will be able to experience a total of 32 elements, including 23 airtime moments (which the company claims is a world record for a steel roller coaster). The investment volume for the complete new themed area, which in addition to the roller coaster novelty will also include the family attraction “Chez Gyrofolix” from Zamperla, the children’s playground “Le Sanglier d’Or” as well as a new restaurant, kiosk and shop, is put at 36 million euros. Find all further details about the new themed area in our May/June issue. (eap)
