New CEO at Tropical Islands

Last week, Germany’s tropical holiday world Tropical Islands in Brand (60 km south of Berlin) announced that Jan Janssen (pictured) is the new CEO of Tropical Island Holding GmbH and the Tropical Island Group with immediate effect. He succeeds former CEO Ole Bested Hensing who left the company in May and has been CEO of Berliner Bäderbetriebe since then. Janssen can draw on more than 30 years of experience in the hotel, conference and leisure business sector and was lately involved in several consulting projects in the Netherlands, Italy and Germany. He was responsible for the strategic development of Center Parcs in Europe until February 2011. Janssen started his career as General Manager of the Kasteel Vaalsbroek hotel in the Netherlands, where he was appointed “Manager of the Year” in 1997/98. Following the takeover of the hotel by US-based hospitality group Dolce International in 1999, Janssen worked as Director of Acquisitions and Development Europe to undertake tasks in France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Belgium and Germany. His goal is now to develop Tropical Islands into Europe’s leading holiday resort. (eap)
