Malaysia: Twentieth Century Fox World is Taking Shape

At the end of last year Genting Malaysia Berhad presented its five billion MYR (around 1.1 billion EUR) Genting Integrated Tourism Plan, which will see a major 10-year master plan for development, expansion, enhancement and refurbishment of hotels, theme park and infrastructure at Malaysia’s Genting Highlands Resort (see picture) operated by Resorts World Genting. Besides the proposed construction of Genting Premium Outlets, the first phase includes the development of a one billion MYR (around 222 million EUR) Twentieth Century Fox World. The opening of the new 25 acre (around 10 hectare) theme park, which will feature more than 25 rides and attractions of a cinematic nature (with reference to films such as Ice Age, Rio, Night at the Museum and Alien vs. Predator), is scheduled for 2016. The Twentieth Century Fox World theme park will replace the outdoor theme park of the resort which ceased operations in September 2013. However, the resort’s indoor theme park remains open to the public. (eap)
