USA: New National Comedy Center Experience Museum in Jamestown Now Open

Early August saw the opening of the new 37,000 square foot (about 3,500 square meter) large National Comedy Center in Jamestown in the US state of New York. A 50 million USD (about 43 Mio. EUR) facility, the cultural destination offers visitors the experience of comedy. Equipped with RFID (radio-frequency identification) wristbands, visitors have the opportunity to experience a personalized visit to the center, where they can explore over 50 interactive exhibits or even follow in the footsteps of famous personalities in the American comedy sector.

JRA provided complete planning, design, and project management for the National Comedy Center. Among the other project partners was Electrosonic: the company realized several touchscreen controlled applications, a hologram installation and motion-controlled audio effects, among other things. Executive Director Journey Gunderson is pleased about the possibility to protect and showcase the art of comedy in this center. The center expects over 100,000 visitors and a 23 million USD contribution to the economy annually. Funding for the non-profit cultural institution was provided by state, federal and private philanthropic support. (eap)
