New Water Attraction for Recreatieoord Wilhelm Tell
(eap) The Belgian five-star campsite Recreatieoord Wilhelm Tell in Opglabbeek, which also features an indoor and outdoor pool, has added a new outdoor spray park to its leisure offerings. The attraction was developed by German manufacturer Wiegand.Waterrides and comprises a central water play structure with a base area of 14 x 12 meters and a height of 5.6 meters.
The interactive play elements of the attraction include tipping buckets, water pistols and sprayers as well as three different slides: a child-friendly body slide with a “cone” element (1.4 meters in diameter), a tube slide with two curve changes and daylight effects (90 centimeters in diameter) as well as a red double slide. A wide wave slide has also been installed, which is suitable for use by the whole family.

As campsite owner Lode Nulmans explains, the spray park is to be operated independently of the existing outdoor pool. Thanks to the heated water, it will be possible to use it from April through October – for both overnight and day guests.
Following the opening of the “Water Playhouse” at the new Center Parcs Nordborg Resort in Denmark (see EAP News of 18 Jun 2025), the Belgian installation is the second realization of Wiegand.Waterrides’ new concept. The new water play structures are based on molds that were purchased from the former Dutch company Van Egdom (vgl. EAP News of 5 Feb 2023). What is special for Wiegand now is that the entire structure is made of stainless steel and powder-coated, which should contribute to a longer service life. The play equipment, jets and water cannons have also been redesigned; the slide components come from the manufacturer’s own GRP production. ■
