USA: Six Flags Banner to Fly Over Three New Parks

The three US leisure destinations Darien Lake (NY), Wet & Wild Splashtown (TX) and Wet & Wild Phoenix (AZ), which were acquired last year by the Six Flags group from former owner EPR Properties (cf. EAP News from May 24th, 2018), will now be officially rebranded to Six Flags parks, a change that goes in hand with a line-up of new attractions, renovation measures and upgrades.

The Darien Lake resort, which is located close to Buffalo and comprises a theme- and a water park, a hotel, a campground and a 21,000-seat amphitheater, will receive the new name of Six Flags Darien Lake. As a novelty to its theme park, Darien Lake will launch a new 73 meter (242 feet) high swing ride this year (cf. EAP News from Aug 30th, 2018). Up to 32 riders will be able to “fly high” at the same time, to spin around at lofty heights with a maximum speed of 56 km/h (35 mph).

Texas’ Wet & Wild Splashtown in Houston will be rebranded to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown. The water park will surprise its guests with a new giant slide this year, measuring just under 20 meters (six stories) in height. Dubbed “Wahoo Wave”, the slide is to be used with four-person rafts. Directly at the beginning of the sliding adventure, guests experience a near-vertical plunge nine meters (30 feet) straight down. In addition, the water park will receive a new Caribbean theming and debut major improvements throughout.

Wet & Wild Phoenix in Arizona changes its name to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Phoenix. The facility is to receive a Caribbean theming as well, in addition to an updated dining area, expanded seating and other upgrades.

Last but not least, the Six Flags Great Escape Resort in the US state of New York will rename its outdoor waterpark to Hurricane Harbor and introduce two new family attractions: “Bucket Blasters”, where riders will spin around in barrels for a classic-fun water gun battle and “Shipwreck Cove”, a new activity pool with interactive water sprays, geysers and fountains.
